Elkay Interior Systems Announces Strategic Changes to Organizational Structure

Tony Lutz, Mia Nicolaisen, and Rod Krings take on new roles. 

MILWAUKEE, WI, September 14, 2020: To achieve the objectives outlined in new global business strategies, Elkay Interior Systems (EIS) is making several strategic changes to our organizational structure. 

Tony Lutz has been promoted to Senior Vice President and has become a member of Elkay’s Global Leadership Team. Lutz has been the leader of Interior Systems since 1987. He joined Elkay in 2017 when Elkay Manufacturing acquired Milwaukee-based Interior Systems, Inc. (ISI), known today as Elkay Interior Systems (EIS). 

“Under Tony’s direction, EIS has experienced exponential global growth,” said Elkay Commercial & Interiors Division President, Steve Rogers. “EIS is now a globally-recognized brand that delivers unrivaled solutions to the retail, hospitality, restaurant, and education markets. [Tony] is a well-rounded visionary leader who is creative, analytical, and driven to succeed -- I can think of nobody more deserving of this expanded leadership role than Tony.”  

As Lutz steps into a broader leadership role, Mia Nicolaisen is also promoted to Vice President, EIS North America. In this expanded role, Mia will be responsible for the EIS North America business, including Digney York Associates (DYA), acquired by EIS earlier this year and will continue to report directly to Lutz. 

Mia joined Interior Systems in 2015. During her time with the company, she has held roles as Director of Sales, Global Brand Manager, and General Manager. Most recently, Mia has been responsible for EIS’s North American Operations, including DYA. The new promotion is a formal recognition of her exceptional performance in the role of integration leader she has been fulfilling since January 2020.

Additionally, Rod Krings has been promoted to General Manager, EIS North America, reporting directly to Mia Nicolaisen. In this role, he will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the EIS North American business, including the office in Milwaukee and plant operations in Fond Du Lac, WI. Reporting to Krings will be all EIS North American Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, and Brand Design. 

Krings came to Elkay from the construction management industry with ten years of cumulative experience in that field. During that time, he emphasized proactive communication with customers and a heavy focus on project milestone management. He has brought that philosophy to Elkay and found success in defining standard operations processes and developing a customer-focused culture within his Operations Department. 

 “Rod has been a critical member of the EIS leadership team for many years,” stated Nicolaisen. “A visionary, forward-focused leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, Rod is the ideal candidate to step into the leadership role at the helm of EIS North America. I feel confident in his ability to take the company forward to achieve the strategic goals we have established for the North American business. Rod has also played a critical role in helping us maintain and improve our U.S. partnership with McDonald’s U.S.”
