Elkay Interior Systems designed, manufactured, and installed the furniture and décor elements for Aldine Learning Lab. This space was developed within the Nutrition Services Building at Aldine Education Center to support a program for students that allows them to get involved in the farm to table process. Students visit the Learning Lab to learn about gardening, then move outside to the actual garden before returning to the culinary kitchen to taste the meals they have prepared.
The space was broken down into the five areas representing food groups. EIS chose a variety of seating styles that range from stools, bean bags, benches, as well as patchwork carpet tile which tie in with the whimsical mobile designs. The entrance to the space was defined by storefront awnings leading into a wall-to-wall graphic of farm fresh food. Elements such as soil, grass, and iconic farm images transitioned this space into a fun learning environment.
